Hotshot Information

All You Need To Know

What We Offer

Firstly, decide what section you would like to compete in.

  • Solo

  • Duo/Trio

  • Groups

Age Groups

Next, pick your age category (average age for groups). Please choose age on the date of the competition you are entering.

  • Tots: 6 & under

  • Mini: 7– 9 years

  • Junior: 10– 12 years

  • Teen: 13– 15 years

  • Senior 16+ years

Please note: Duos/Trios/Groups age are categorised by average age.

All The Genres

Then, pick your style of dance.

  • We offer 5 categories at Hotshot Dance Competition:

  • Classic – Ballet/Lyrical/Contemporary

  • Performance – Jazz/Modern

  • Musical Theatre – Tap/Song & Dance

  • Open – Street/Acro/Irish


You are only permitted to have up to 10% of any other Dance genre in your chosen style/Category.


If any of the above categories will have more than 6 entries, then we will expand that genre to have its own section.

Time Limits

Dance Time Limits:

  • Solo – 2 minutes

  • Duos/Trios – 3 minutes

  • Groups – 5 minutes

What Forms Do You Receive?

If you wish to enter then we need the following forms to be completed immediately:

  • Sign in Sheet

  • Photo Consent Form

  • Entries Confirmed


The following information will need to be provided via our online forms:

Solo

  • Dancers Name

  • Dancers DOB

  • Dance Title

  • Dance Style

​

Duos/Trios/Groups

  • Dancers Names

  • Age Range

  • Average Age

  • Dance Title

  • Dance Style

Chaperones

All children under the age of 16 must be chaperoned by a registered chaperone with a DBS no older than 3 years.

Please note that there will be a limit to the number of chaperones allowed backstage. We allow of a ratio of 1 adult to every 10 children.

Parents without a valid DBS will not be allowed backstage. DBS numbers will need to be given prior to competition day in order for a backstage lanyard to be prepared.

If we do not have a DBS number in advance, then you will not be permitted backstage.

Terms and Conditions

• Payment of entry fees must be received within 30 days of invoice sent to secure your place in the competition.
• No refunds will be given.
• We reserve the right to cancel entries if the payment deadline date is not met.
• We reserve the right to combine any sections to make the competition more competitive if necessary.
• Anyone watching the performance must purchase a ticket.
• All music must be age appropriate with no explicit language.
• Hotshot Dance Competition will not be responsible for any injuries caused backstage, on stage or in any part of the venue.
• Hotshot Dance Competition will not be responsible for any theft, loss or damage to personal items whilst at the venue.
• All participating dance schools must have their own Public Liability Insurance.
• All schools will need to fill out the relevant forms and send back prior to the event.
• Duos/Trios age is categorised by average age.
• Group age categories are organised by average age.
• You must notify Hotshot Dance Competition prior to the competition if props will be used.
• The judge’s choice is final.
• All children under the age of 16 must be chaperoned by a registered chaperone with a DBS no older than 3 years.
• Hotshot Dance Competition have the right to disqualify any dancers who are not dancing in the right age category.
• Hotshot may need to limit your dance entries if an event is extremely popular.
